Kivu Trail, Rwanda

The Origin Story

The Producer

Kivu Trail is grown by thousands of smallholder farmers connected through washing stations supported by the Rwanda Trading Company. For many, coffee is the primary livelihood and a point of communal pride.

The Land

Farms stretch along Rwanda’s hilly landscapes surrounding Lake Kivu, sitting 1,400 to 1,900 meters above sea level. Volcanic soils and a temperate climate make this one of Africa’s most distinctive coffee regions.

The Craft

Farmers deliver ripe cherries daily to local stations for sorting, pulping, and washing. This collective model ensures consistency, uplifts rural communities, and preserves Rwanda’s legacy for sweet, fruit driven coffees.
