The Rovecrave Guide to the AeroPress

The AeroPress is the nomad’s best mate. It is light, unbreakable, and makes damn good coffee whether you are in a flat, a field, or the back of a van with rain on the roof. It's small enough to throw in your backpack, but still delivers a cup that rivals a home espresso setup for smoothness and flavour. Perfect for home. Perfect for the road.

Why We Rate the AeroPress

The AeroPress is quick, portable, and forgiving. No electricity, no drama, just hot water, ground coffee, and a couple of minutes. It's loved by world champions and bleary-eyed travellers alike because it is consistent, easy to clean, and built for brewing anywhere.

The Inverted Method (Rovecrave Style)

Most AeroPress instructions will tell you to brew it upright. We flip it. The inverted method keeps all your coffee and water together during brewing, giving you a richer, fuller extraction without it dripping through early.

Here is how we do it:

  1. Set the plunger around the “4” mark and flip it so it is inverted.

  2. Add 17g of medium to medium-fine grind Rovecrave coffee.

  3. Fill with just off the boil water to nearly the top, stir gently, then top up fully.

  4. Attach the filter cap fitted with a rinsed paper filter.

  5. Flip the AeroPress onto your cup (carefully - hold the plunger just to be safe) and let it brew for 2 minutes. We like to flip it early and let it brew correct way around so the grinds can settle and the coffee isn't brewing on the rubber plunger.

  6. Plunge slowly for about 30 seconds until you hear the hiss.

Our Fave Flaves

We love the AeroPress for our Antigua Dust (Guatemala), Limu Drift (Ethiopia), or Velho Camino (Brazil) when we are on the road. Smooth, bold, and full of flavour, no matter where you brew.

Tips for Brewing Anywhere

  • Pre-grind your beans for the trip, or select the AeroPress grind option when buying any of our beans.

  • Optionally use 2 filter papers for an extra smooth, less acidic taste.

  • Bring a flask for hot water if you are heading somewhere remote and extend the brew time to 3-4 mins as the water will have cooled slightly.

  • Always give it a quick rinse straight after brewing to keep it going for years.

The AeroPress is not just a brewer. It is a ticket to great coffee anywhere the road takes you. Whether it is sunrise at a cliff edge or a lazy Sunday in your kitchen, the AeroPress has your back.
